This began as one of my early builds. I can definitely tell by some arrangement and soldering issues. I got to the check-and-troubleshoot stage before some things in life went decidedly pear-shaped and put off building and playing for quite a while.
Found it again in a box, partially disassembled, a little damaged, but the board mostly ready to go.
So a little troubleshooting–switched R11 to 100k and the gain pot to an A250k–and it’s functioning now.
Q3 won’t bias below 8.7v (I might try a different trimpot) and I may experiment with a different value of volume and tone pots; there is no such thing as ‘soft gain’ or ‘unity volume’ with this pedal. Both range from ‘substantial’ to ‘amp-destroying’.
Subtle? Not at all.
Good? Oh hell yes.
Plus I took inspiration from the demo video and had fun employing some second-grade painting techniques. 😀
