I wanted to try the singles in a 15909B enclosure. Really straight forward build, still loving the ribbon cable. I use less than 6″ of wire to completely wire this little guy. It should be noted that I ended up running the ribbon cable on the top side of both PCB’s. Running the ribbon under was too close to the jacks since the enclosure is so small.
    Thanks for looking!

Side view for a better angle. As you can see plenty of clearance.

Wow, another nice build Steve!  Looks like a tight fit indeed.  I like those ribbon cables too.  I’ve used them in a few builds where they would work and it sure saves on wires running everywhere.  Barry really put some thought into this line.

Do you paint your own enclosures or is that powder coated?  That looks so pro.

Fantastic job once more, and thank you for sharing.

The Tweed undeniably delivers a uniquely classic tone, doesn’t it? I absolutely love it.

Thanks Bradley. This one was a pre-painted from Tayda. Most of the time I paint my own with a rattle can, but since I was doing the 3 singles I opted for the pre-painted just to save time. 😉

I wonder how did you tweak those trim resistors to taste or to sound close to the original 5E3 amp? Mine is one trim resistor is at max while the other trim resistor is almost as in minimum. How i hear it was this, the one trim resistor set at max when at minimum the sound is kinda bassy to muffled. Turning it to full regains the clarity of the sound. My reference sound is the bypass mode of the pedal then tweak it to max so I can have the have the same clarity on both bypass and engaged.

Now, I am not sure if my tweaking is the right way of doing it.

“I wonder how did you tweak those trim resistors to taste”

    That is exactly it.

I thought it would be best to leave that up to the individual, as it’s very subjective and allows for customizable options.

Even Neil Young says his personal 5E3 is unlike any other. You’ve described exactly what I was expecting: adjust the settings to your own taste to achieve the sound you desire.
