Hi everyone, I have built a paramix using a kit from musikding, and it works great for the most part however, when no instrument is plugged in there is a lot of background noise and that noise intensifies if I touch the enclosure.
This is not something that happens with the other pedals I have built (including a Mini Me from here) and I was wondering if that could be the result of the jacks used in the build:
the kit came with 6 mono jacks with 2 normaly closed switch and they are closed frame, which means there is no connection between the enclosure and the ground of the jack.Is that possible? and more importantly could that be a risk of electrocution if I were to say use a microphone while playing?

Hi Agathe, you definitely have to route the enclosure to the ground.
Simplest way to do it is to have a short piece of bare wire wrapped around one jack’s thread so once the nut is tightened this wire is in contact with the enclosure (trapped between jack’s body & enclosure). Then solder this wire to the ground of the jack. Done !
Thank you, I will do that, I think later I might swap the jacks for open frame ones and, if I build a second one I will definitely use open frames ones (the closed frames one take a lot more space it was a real headache to make everything inside a BB enclosure)
