mybudModeratorWhile waiting for two of these beauties to arrive from Barry (and the 3207s from Germany), I was idly speculating whether there would be any use in having a switching arrangement for the 33nF input cap to accommodate bass guitar. I assume (on the basis of the Paramix BD where a change in cap value is suggested) that 33n is tailored for ‘normal’ guitar frequencies and that a larger cap value (220n or upward) might be better suited to bass guitar with a low B string. If so, it might be worth installing a DPDT board with the two caps to accommodate this. If anyone has tried this mod, please let me know. I am aware of Wilkie’s flangery mod which I plan to try out but modding the input cap is a different case. On the other hand, I’m tempted to say ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’ Any advice appreciated as ever.

BillyModeratorIt’s one of the bass ready circuits requiring no modifications for bass

BarryKeymasterI just noticed you said low B string. I think that many 4 string Bass Players have used this circuit and like it the way that it is. That said many Bass players are using 5 string guitars as well as lower tunings depending on music styles. With that in mind it may be advantageous to swap that capacitor out to a higher value. A 220n is more than enough to accommodate a 5 string Bass guitar. Another alternative that is even more flexible would be to add the circuit to a Buff N Blend inside the same enclosure since this would give you Blendable options.
Note: The Mini-Me circuit inverts the phase which is of no consequence until you use it in a Parallel arrangement such as the Buff N Blend. To correct the phase you would simply need to insert our Stage 3 Booster in series after the Mini-Me before connecting it to the Buff N Blend.
As a result you will not only have a phase corrected circuit that you can now Blend but you will have the additional clean boosted control of the Stage 3 further adding to the overall tonality.
