Hi all, complete first-timer here (in all regards) so please go easy 😉

I’ve purchased an ADD-VERB kit and note the build document suggests using sockets for the transitors and IC chips, which makes sense.

The kit I received includes 1 x 8-way socket for the TL072 DUAL OPAMP IC, I think. Should there be a socket for the ADD-VERB IC too or do I need to source my own? Or just solder straight on?

    Many thanks!

Most people do not typically socket the brick unless they want to try other bricks maybe.

The brick is probably too heavy to work well with a socket.

That said you still can do it easily by cutting a 16 Pin IC Socket in half.
