    Hello everyone,

I purchased and build the tap tempo add on for pt2399, and run into a very strange “glitch”… The tempo led, gets out of sync every now and while, and then syncs again. I used a metronome to check it, set the delay speed by either the switch or the potentiometer, set the metronome at the same tempo. So for the first 4-6 counts led flashes along with the metronome. Then for 3-4 counts the led flashes out of sync and then again goes along with the beep. I tried all that in various speeds (60bpm ~130bpm, less or more I cant keep along with the tempo 🙂  ). While the actual delay sounds keeps in place, while always seems to be a little faster from the blinking led. Tried different led, same result. Tried the Tempo Double Time input to ground, again it does the same thing… And it’s driving a little crazy as I see videos on the web, with led’s blinking in tempo and mine is acting like it smoked something funny! Could it be a bad taptation IC?  Thanks in advance to anyone that will provide any help or thoughts!!!

There are no photos for me to visually inspect it so be sure your wire dressing from the taptation board and chip is short (only what is needed and no extra) other than that it could be the chip. Our circuit board or design would not be a consideration since it is very simple and based exactly on their recommendation and over the last 8 years many have been sold. I have only ever seen a problem when someone use a lot of excess wire before.

Thanks Barry for you swift reply,

well I dont think it is the wire length, however you can see I am not overusing wires. The led is directly mounted on the pcb. I know that there is no problem with the pcb itself, most likely I got “lucky” with the IC, just wanted to know if anyone else ever faced this problem again.
