So it’s been a minute since I have posted any completed projects (been busy with life) but I’ve got a few minutes now for ‘show and tell’. First offering is a SWAH auto wah. I read Cybercow’s build review several times before diving in. I opted to go with LED’s (white instead of his recommend red) for D1 and D2. 20/20 hindsight, I should have socketed those 2 locations as now I am curious as to how much difference they actually make. They are pretty easy to get to, so one or two more days of this cold (to us, in Calif.) weather, I’ll be finding out. I am a total newbie when it came to the auto wah and let me say getting a usable tone from it took more than a few minutes of twisting pots. I finally turned everything CCW and started in very small increments and after a 1/2 hour or so it was making beautiful music. Then I switched guitars (LP style to Fender Strat)! OMG! Back to the drawing board, but with knew found knowledge on how to find that sweet spot! 😉

Next up is a Tube Screaming Pre Amp I named “Screaming Mimi” because it does just that. It screams! The only mod I did to this circuit was to add a 6 way rotary switch with 6 clipping options. White LED’s in the first position followed by a pair of 2n7000 Mosfets, 1N4148’s, 1n60’s, BAT46’s, and bringing up the rear a pair of 1N4001 diodes. Lot’s of tone in this pedal!

Next up are not a pedals but related. I have completed 2 ‘mini guitar’ kits from Stew Mac (3rd one is under construction). These kits were more about finishing than actual construction/wiring but I learned a lot in the process. And what I learned wast that after the Mini LP is finished, I am through with sanding and building unfinished kits. All though playable, they are destined to be ‘wall art’ in our guest bedroom. I will do one or two parts casters I’m sure and I’m still waiting to pull the trigger on my first amplifier kit….
    Thanks for looking!

those are great-looking pedals and i love the art.  i am also curious about the mini guitar kits.  does the body come unfinished and raw wood?  i think my daughter might do some engraving work for me.

Thanks sonofwhat! Yes, they are completely unfinished. The body and neck are Mahogany so pore filling is required if you want that ‘baby bottom smooth’ finish. 🙂
