howdy, i just completed a blues buster v2 (it’s great btw!) and i stuck it before my BMPOA in my chain. whenever i engage the BMPOA, it seems to cut the volume of my output, even with its own volume set to full blast. i replicated this behavior with my emexar build as well. is there something i need to know about the loudness of the blues buster, or is it possible that there’s an issue earlier on? note: i’m doing this while heading out the door for work, so i haven’t tried _just_ the blues buster and a distortion pedal. no mods on any of these pedals (except for the onboard on-on swift on the blues buster)/

The BlueBuster is based on the Bluesbreaker amp. It is meant to have the master volume cranked. You can pretty much read about this regarding any Bluesbreaker style pedal. That said there are a few things you can do to increase the volume even higher above unity. You can add a gain stage like the Afterblaster onto the foot switch. You can simply change the clipping diodes to LEDs or you can double up on the silicon diodes increasing the forward voltage. Either way cranking the Volume is part of the excellent tone.

As for the Muff circuit the Volume drop could be apparent since it features a fairly severe mid-scoop, while the Blues Buster has a mid-hump. It is hard for me to say without hearing it in person but I would try other pedals.

Ah thanks, that’s helpful context re: the mid scoop on the big muff. Is it worth me placing the blues buster near the end of my chain (e.g. before my reverb but after delay)?

I can just advise you to try different things. It is all very subjective on a lot of criteria.
