    Hello,

I owned a Plexi Plus Pedal KIT (it’s a Guitar PCB KIT) and it’s almost assembled to finish. But there are three things, they are confusing me a little. From here I found out this is a 3PDT Wiring Board.

    1. The Anode Bi-Color LED: “LED is board mountable for a firm enclosure connection”  –  That means the assembly of the LED has to be soldered on the main PCB or on the smaller 3PDT Footswtich board?
    2. …with its resistor: “If you use a 3PDT wiring board that includes an LED, you can omit this LED and R18. *R18 is the LED’s Current Limiting Resistor (CLR).”  –  Even more confusion with question one. Where should be soldered the LED and the resistor R18/CLR with 1k8 Ω?
    3. The 1n4001 Diode on part position D1: There needs to be soldered an 1n4001 diode. The diode part position D1 is labled twice. One on the small 3PDT Wiring Footswitch Board and the other on the main PCB. I guess it should be soldered on the main PCB and not the footswitch. Am I right?

I really appreciate any look to my issue. I hope I my questions are clear enough and someone can help me out. If not, please ask unclear.

Thank you very much in advance.

    To clarify:

You have the option to mount the status LED and its Current Limiting Resistor on EITHER the main PLEXI PLUS board OR on the small 3PDT wiring board. Choose the location you prefer.  Many people want the LED to be close to the footswitch so they mount it on the smaller 3PDT board.

The 1N4001 diode must be mounted on the main PLEXI board.  It provides reverse polarity protection for that circuit.

    I hope this helps.

Further clarification: the effect board and footswitch board are completely separate. Labels on a board are for that board only. Use the instructions and bill of materials for each individual board; they are not paired like this.
In this case, D1 on the Plexi Plus would be a 1N4001. You need that on this board. D1 on the 3PDT board would be the LED (Light Emitting Diode) for the 3PDT.

If you want the light down by the footswitch use D1 on the 3PDT board and put the resistor in the 3PDT board’s CLR place, and omit D2 and R18 on the Plexi Plus.

If you attach the LED to the Plexi Plus board, you need to put the LED on its D2 and resistor in R18 but you do not have to solder an LED or resistor to the 3PDT board, or even the power wires. You don’t have to use the 3PDT board at all if you don’t want to, but it is much easier than soldering directly to the switch like the ‘easy wiring guide’ section.
And related to that section, if you only use a battery you can omit the power jack and solder positive straight to board. Conversely, you don’t need a battery clip or 3-lug 1/4″ jack if you only use a power supply.

Thank you both for clearing this up. Usage of battery is not necessary, I think the rest is clear to me. So this means in short…

Either: LED on main Plexi Plus board on D2 with resistor on R18
Or: LED on the 3PDT board on D1 with resistor on CLR

    Regards,
    Daniel.

I see there is just one thing.
What is about the 2,1 / 5,5 mm power jack connection to 3PDT / main board. Will the power chain goes from 2,1 / 5,5 mm power connector > 3PDT board > main board ?
    OR
From power jack ground > 3PDT > mainboard and 9+ volts directly to the main board?

    Or this way as below?

    Kind regards.

Your diagram will work just fine.

    Hello,

I have made 2 schemas. Could you please check?

    WIRING 1

    WIRING 2

WIRING 2 is correct.  However, you are not showing the status LED and the CLR.  You need to decide if you want the LED to be on the main board or on the 3PDT wiring board.  Consult the build documents for assistance with wiring options for the LED.

    Thank you wilkie,

I will use the LED on main board D2 with resistor on R18 and use a wired LED connection to keep the LED position in the case most flexible.

    Regards.
