The Heavy Metal Thunder features the Marsha, modded with a 6-way clipping selector and an adjustable blue/red mod, alongside a Deisel-style board from another small pcb maker. This thing breathes fire and is also excellent for Hard Rock, Grunge, core, punk and anything else with attitude, as well as Metal. The signal goes into the Marsha and the 6 clipping options are 1) LED 2) JFET 3) Silicon 4) Schottky (Bat46) 5) Silicon>Germanium 6) Germanium. Being that this circuit using diodes for hard clipping, the effects of changing the diodes are very apparent and yield 6 very distinct gain structures and tones.
The A-B mod, was accomplished using one of Barry’s good ‘ol Best Footswitch boards. Being that in bypass the “jumper” is already installed, and you have a dedicated indicator led, all you need to do (with the help of a little Resistor-to-Trimpot pcb) is connect your resistance to the BI and BO connections. Easy as pie!
Oh yea, there are also independent ins and outs for each circuit, allowing you to either run them straight through without a jumper or place each circuits in different sections of your signal chain.
