JrdnRgrsParticipantFinished up the Big Muff Pi 6-in-1 bonus PCB and want to add a clean blend knob to it with the Buff n Blend board. I’ve got everything wired up, but I think I’m experiencing the phase inverting issue mentioned in the docs, as something sounds a little “off”. The docs mention either adding the board to another like a combo, or using the Stage 3 PCB, but I dont have plans to make this one a combo, nor do I have the Stage 3 board (it isnt in stock either).
Based on some light research it looks like I may need to add another transistor somewhere to invert the phase again? I’m comfortable with additional offboard wiring stuff, but Id also like to not add any other “features” like an additional boost or something to this pedal because I’ve already got a couple toggles in mind and dont want to overcrowd. I’m still learning though so bear with me please.
Anyone have any other suggestions for this?
One other thing is that it kind of sounds like im also experiencing the opposite of what the docs mention R5 is for; I can hear the clean signal even when blend is all the way wet. If I turn blend all the way to wet, but turn down the effect volume, I can hear the clean pretty clearly. Is this what is supposed to happen?
Thanks

BarryKeymasterThe Muff’n is non-inverting so that should not be your problem.

JrdnRgrsParticipantyeah after recording audio from with and without the buff n blend, i started to second guess myself.
The second issue however does persist; when the blend knob is all the way to the wet side but the effect volume turned low, I can hear the dry signal. I guess just wondering if this is something inherent to the circuit, or if I’ve got something wrong. Went ahead and added a trimmer to R5 instead of a jumper to just see, and I don’t really hear any difference at all (maybe a tiny bit lower volume on the clean?).
As I type this out I realize part of this is probably because I’m thinking it is going to be a volume control for the entire circuit, but it is obviously only controlling the muff effect.

BarryKeymasterYes, what you are realizing is true.
You can try a different taper (B100K) BnB pot to change the feel.
