here’s a Cornish G2 thing I just finished. this project almost got the better of me several times. what a rollercoaster ride. I won’t bore with the details. point of the story, stick to it. I’m so glad I didn’t give up. this is the best sounding overdrive I’ve ever played. artwork by my 8 year old daughter. it’s a roadrunner. I tried really hard to record some sound samples but every take sounded like trash. i really wanted to show it off.
geek stuff:
- DK9 diodes measuring .28 – .31 Vf
- 2N5088 for Q1 – Q4
- 2N5089 for Q5 and Q6
- each gain stage has an transistor with more gain that the one before it. starting around 250 for Q3 and ending at around 550 for Q6
- Q1 and Q2 have small gain under 250 since they are part of the buffers
- I tried to use the highest quality caps I could find
