Hello, I have a problem with the way the balance control works. As I turn it up at about 7 o’clock it becomes unbelievable loud as to be unusable. I’ve checked to make sure the pot is correct. The fuzz also sounds less like fuzz and more like a Rat distortion. I hope the pic is good enough to help diagnose the problem.

    Thanks!

Well build issues aside if there even is any there is a lot of subjective to be had here.

A circuit is a circuit so this is absolutely a Buzzaround and not a Rat.

That said this circuit is absolutely loud by design:

As for the distortion it produces it is absolutely very high gain by design so I can understand the Rat comparison.

Check this out, it is the exact same circuit:

After watching that if you want to try and Mod the Level back that is possible. Ours is based exactly on the highly sought after original. Value by value. Also you turn the Volume down on the Guitar which is the recommendations from the internet for Buzzaround owners especially if using hot pickups. As for the Fuzz character you can adjust the BIAS aka TIMBRE for a slightly gated tone.

Hi Barry! Thanks for the response. Don’t get me wrong, the pedal sounds great, I just thought I did something wrong that made it so loud and maybe effecting the tone. I watched the video and mine sounds like that, huge, angry bee swarm. I’m glad I didn’t do anything wrong, this is first pedal build and my first post to any forum.

I tried searching for the balance mod, and didn’t find anything. I don’t know if I have the chops yet for modding but if you can point in the direction on how to do it, maybe one day I’ll take a whack at it. I’m attempting the SWAH next, it seems a bit more difficult but the fact I didn’t screw this one up gives me more confidence.

    Thanks again!
