ParticipantI just got done with this build and everything works but,
I get this high pitched sqeal that seems to be affected by all the potentiometers including the guitar.

ParticipantThe only thing I wasn’t sure of is the box capacitor is it a 470 n or a 470 p I have a 470 n in that place now its the big white box capacitor

ParticipantAlso I did mess with the bias and its in the sweet spot for output but that as well affects the sqeal

BarryKeymasterI can’t really trace anything from those photos — there are just too many wires and connections to pinpoint the issue visually.
What I recommend is this:
-
Verify the SD9 circuit works on its own before attaching it to the Afterblaster board. Break the system down and test each part separately. That’s the fastest way to narrow down and reveal the problem.
-
Check all ground connections carefully. Use your DMM in continuity mode and make sure every required common ground point is actually connected. A missing or floating ground is one of the most common causes of high-pitch squealing.
With this many wires and add-ons, the problem could be several things — but I would start with isolating the SD9 and confirming proper grounding throughout the build. That should point you in the right direction.

ParticipantOk thank I will start with that

BarryKeymasterI just now saw your post about capacitor code.
Edit; I just did a double-look.
Edit 2: Yah double look there too. 470pF
Use Google or find a chart to use if you are unsure about the code

ParticipantActually I am completely wrong they code states 470 which is 47 pf so I’m way off

ParticipantOk so replaced the 470 nf with the 47 pf and it took care of the sqeal man that was nuts. So that value still worked in the circuit but made that high pitch oscillating squeal. That’s crazy to me. So I added back the after blaster and I will get the art work done and post up the finished product. Thanks for the help barry
